Lanna Renaissance

Lanna Renaissance celebrates the recent resurgence of fascination with Greater Lanna cultures. Illustrated with more than 500 photos, this volume starts with the history and cultures of the region and proceeds to describe in detail the arts, handicrafts, architecture, healing traditions and ways of life that link Lanna's past with the present. In addition to northern Thailand- the centre of Lanna culture, historically speaking- the text covers related art, history and culture in nearby Myanmar, Laos and southwestern China. The text culminates with an appreciation of the current trends in the Lanna renaissance, as exemplified by Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, Chiang Mai and other new developments in northern Thailand celebrating all things Lanna.
